For this blogpost, I’ll be doing the Your Story Tag. Unfortunately, I have no idea who created this tag originally. If you know, leave me a comment so I can give them credit 🙂
This tag will be about my current WIP, The King’s Daughter.
- Tell us about your story.
I can give you my synopsis that I came up with, but I don’t feel like it correctly portrays my story (yet) because I suck at writing them. Ah, well.
For centuries, faeries have inhabited both Gryia and Aizen. These two vastly different places have been the home of the most powerful faeries and their rulers. Twenty year-old Sophia Szulc has successfully dethroned her brother, Noel, and has plans to become the first Queen of the Fae. News of vampires breaking The Purity Treaty, which banned them from consuming fae blood, sends Sophia into the human world against her father’s orders to demand answers. Sophia learns that even the most frightening of creatures have monsters of their own.
That synopsis will definitely change, but I decided to make one in case I need it and look at that! I needed one. Basically, Sophia is a strong and confident person who kicks ass. Nothing can come between her and what she wants most. It was important for me to make a strong female lead.
2. Is this part of Camp NaNoWriMo, NaNoWriMo, or personal?
I started writing this after NaNoWriMo 2016. I can actually tell you the exact date I started it- December 14th.
3. Tell us about your characters.
How about main characters?
Sophia- Kicks ass (as previously mentioned), and worked hard to become first Queen of the Fae. She’ll do anything to maintain that role and loves her people very much.
Mateo- Main character who resents his immortality. Hates his father for reasons not entirely revealed in book one. Mateo yearns to do right by everyone and that can make him seem two-faced.
4. Your favorite friendship.
Bruno and Sophia. An unexpected, but interesting friendship.
5. What is your favorite romance?
Haha, I can’t tell you. What fun would that be? But I do love one romance a lot more than the others!
6. What is the saddest scene in your story?
A scene causing feelings of sadness is subjective. I think one scene, the death of a character, is the saddest scene. However, that’s due to my connection to it and not even necessarily based on the story.
7. What is your favorite scene?
Hint: it involves my favorite romance 😉
8. What is your opening scene?
Sophia is speaking with her father, the King of the Fae, and discussing vampires breaking The Purity Treaty. Her father warns her not to go into the human world, but nothing gets done when people do what they’re told 🙂
9. How did this story come about?
I honestly have no idea. It bothers me because most of my ideas are spurred from somewhere and I remember them. I believe a scene from the middle of the story caused me to create the beginning and end 🙂
10. What is the theme of your story?
While I have a theme that I’m portraying, I like when the reader finds that out for themselves.
11. What isn’t working in your story?
I’m in the first round of revisions and I’m removing a POV. It’s quite a pain, but it’s worth it 🙂
12. What is one thing you love about your story?
The myth one of the creatures is based off of. I love it so much and I adore writing it. Research is fun (and creepy), too.
13. Do you plan to publish?
I do 🙂
I hope you enjoyed this tag! If you have anything you’d like me to blog about, leave a comment below. 🙂
